Meine stadt
This week in German we have been focussing on my town and buildings in town. In classes we discussed the range of buildings in the differing towns our students come from and gave them German names. Students then demonstrated their learning by creating a mind map, story, annotated skitch, brochure or iMovie to display the names of the buildings in their town. By making personalising the information delivered to students individual towns this makes the lesson more relevant (and fun)to students. The coolest part of this activity is the engagement of students and the extreme speed at which students ran with their choices 🙂
The lower year levels enjoyed creating their own streetscape using paint chips and newspaper. The students were rightly very proud of their very creative results.
